this song was prompted by the artifact of a bow and arrow that my friend Nate had (check out his music at www.myspace.com/natehenricks). I dwelled on it, and saw this scenario where a dad and a son somehow discover truth after a somewhat wasted life.
lyrics
Turn on the tv
the Christmas specials are on
for me it takes a season
to think of your mom at all
pink flamingos flapped their wings
and flew away last night
picket fences became a page in a book
and we shot the bow and arrow
and realized for years that we'd been took
no you're too young to drink beer
and the movies I love can't grace your eyes
I"m afraid I'd give you a poison apple
with a side of McDonald's fries
we dug the old moped out of our garage
and set the rest of the house on fire
and we shot the bow and arrow
on the ashes of worthless things
my only son came home last night
he slept in his old bed room
and we shot the bow and arrow
and laid american myth in its tomb
